Whole lotta labia.
[how ya feelin'? |calmcalm]

I'd like to introduce you all to Scott. Go ahead, click on it. That's Scott. Tonight after work I dipped into my local yoga studio for a class. I figured I could use some hands-on coaching with a couple of moves and was looking to learn new Sun Salutations.

What I got was a half hour of incredibly challenging Sun Salutations, half handstands against the wall, supported shoulder stands, and four very very very long minutes in a deep forward bend to loosen my hamstrings. Also, side angle pose. Oh, and the icing on the cake was when I realized I was on the floor with my left leg straight out behind me, my right leg curled under my chest, my forehead to the ground just past my right knee, and my entire torso twisted to the right with my arms straight out and my palms together. I can not for the life of me find a picture of it. But don't let that stop you, go ahead. Try it.

Now make sure your right arm is straight.

Yeah. Hurts, don't it?

In short, Scott is an evil evil man. I think I may love him. I feel fantastic.. my lower back is a little sore but that's because I finally figured out how my downward facing dog was going wrong and fixed it but not before I tried to fix it the wrong way. Ah well, live and learn.

(oh, and it got a lot easier when I realized the woman to my left was six months pregnant and I stopped trying to copy her posture)

Actually it felt really really good once I figured out what it was trying to accomplish and stopped fighting it. I'll demonstrate for you sometime. ;)

I'm not going any further in yoga until I've completely mastered the intricacies of mountain pose.

*stands v. v. still*

Name of pose? Some kind of variation on the pigeon posture.. but.. twisted.. with kink, I think.

The nice thing is that it sounds so impressive when you describe it but it's not a hard pose at all. I was like "Dude, if I did this in a bar I'd get many drinks."

The weird part? Today there's a nice mild ache across my back.. like.. "ooh, I certainly used that muscle." But the only part of me that really hurts is my left butt-cheek. Not the whole butt, just the left side. Odd.

:)
