Whole lotta labia.
[how ya feelin'? |contemplativecontemplative]

I'm afraid I've been a little AWOL. I've been hiding and avoiding things and wishing my back would stop hurting. In leiu of an actual entry (which you may expect later today)..

Some things:

  • My local 6pm newscast on Monday decided that the best "sign blowing in the wind on Bourbon St." shot they could find was the one for the sex toy shop.

  • All governors of Southern states should have names like Mississippi's does. That's a good Southern governor name. Like you ought to be able to describe his cabinet by using the word "machine." I doubt that's the case, I've listened to him talk the last couple of days and he sounds like a good enough guy, but I'm a traditionalist and I like my good ol' boys to have good ol' boy names. A Southern governor named "Mike" does no one any good. I'm looking at you, Carolinas. Both of you.

  • Listening to Rob Gifford say goodbye to China on today's Morning Edition made me weepy.

  • This morning I realized that instead of transferring money from savings into checking in order to cushion against any unforseen expenses in the wake of The Great Catalytic Converter Install of 2005 what I had, in fact, done was to transfer that money OUT of my checking account and into my savings account where it is now mocking me and will do for the four days it takes to transfer money back out. God dammit. *makes ramen*

  • My boss is back in the office after a week and a half in our Oregon office. Let the slacking off cease.

  • Tonight? Caitlin. Tomorrow? traveller and ipso__facto. This weekend? thewhitedragon and possibly more wilfulcait. *happiness*

  • Monday night I found a copy of my first novel. I thought I'd lost it. It's not good, but it's mine and it was like a hole in my heart when I didn't know where it was.

  • minervacat's Top Five list today is like a big epic game of Anywhere But Here.

In conclusion? Distraction.

How are you guys?

I have coffee, and when I drove up to the coffee shack to get it, the two VERY cute boys inside said in unison, "Good morning, Chelle." and then handed me my coffee without even having to ask what I wanted.

Good times.

So what is the Mississippi's governor's name?

My feet hurt, and my eyes feel like they're full of sand, but I'm off to bed in a minute or two, so all things considered, I'm doing fairly well!

It suits him well. But then, this is the sort of thing I know about him, so...

Our governor's name is rather uninspiring (Mark Sanford) but he makes up for it by being racist, sexist and classist in the highest order. Nearly his first piece of legislation that he signed set women's rights back in this state nearly fifty years. You can't argue with efficiency like that.

Classic overcompensation. If his name had been Buford he'd have been a bastion of womens' rights. ;)

Goodness. Liars and Classists!

I guess I should be thankful that my state legislature is mereley thoroughly and transparently corrupt.

I dunno - I like our Mayor's name better, although there is something to be said for good southern male names, like Collier, I LURVE that name.

Melly whyfor I can't wiggle my nose and have you here?

While I completely agree that Haley Barbour is a cool name, the man that holds it is not cool at all. Did you know that he funneled money from a Chinese businessman into his campaign? Did you know that was illegal and unethical? His excuse? "I don't speak chinese."
