Whole lotta labia.
I? Am in Ireland. Dude. How did this trip get here so fast? I've landed and am safe and have gotten a terminal (FINALLY!) that has a working space bar. Which is good because the email I sent to ST just now reads something like this: i.love.you.but.i.hate.this.stupid.computer.

Seriously.

Cait's flight lands in half an hour and I am going to be there to meet her and then I volunteered for the first leg of the driving. Why? Because I like driving in the left-side places. It's like an odd kind of video game. And I'm oddly good at it. All those times I made Mika let me practice by shifting while she drove.

I have, however, learned this valuable lesson: Always figure out how to get into and out of reverse whilst you are still in the airport parking lot. Do NOT wait until you are nose-in to the exit lane of a major car park in Edinburgh and some blonde in a Renault is looking at you from the other side of the gate like "Bitch I'd like to go home now."

Hypothetically.

CEE! Lala and I were talking about you on the way to the airport.

Also? Cee? Why are you up at 1:48 in the morning?

Is there something special I can eat/drink/pet/run over for you while I'm here?

Right now I'm in Galway and I'd sell my left arm to get to spend the last day of this trip in Glasgow, however I think we're on tap for something in Ireland instead.. can I take a raincheck?

She really just wanted you and knew it was never to be. The loss of opportunity was everything to her.

So, like, anyway, have a fantastic time over there with Cait!

Last night, I made guacamole the way people who didn't grow up in my part of the country do; without the sour cream. Then I made some with the sour cream because I had enough avocados to do it right. It's good both ways, but I guess I like what I grew up with better. It's a textural thing.

How do the Irish eat theirs? ;)

The Irish eat their guacamole with potatoes. Also with Guinness. ;)

I will baby, I'm trying hard to just chill and let the country roll over me. It'll be easier after today when I know that I have the weekend to myself and anything that's gone wrong at work did so without me..

Ireland!? Color me green with envy!

heh. Ireland, green. heh.

don't look at me like that. hey, somebody's got to amuse me. :p

Melly. You are wonderful. And you and Cait are to have the most fun that any people ever had on a trip ever, to anywhere. And take many pictures, and then put them up on the internet so that I can see them.

Actually, given the way people drive I'm glad to be in a car rather than walking, lest I should become nothing but a spot in the middle of the road. :)

How's your walk going?

Go West she whispers... Let's see... If you get to Galway, eat oysters. If you get to Limerick, skip it and go to the John Hunt museum out at the university (might be the best small museum in the world: coptic ivories, Stone age and bronze age chatchkes, gold torques, and my favorite sheela-na-gig). Fer sure get to Quin (near Ennis) is a lovely town in County Clare: ruined huge abbey, beautiful man behind the bar at the Quin Abbey Inn, and Cragannowen Project has a reconstructed ring fort and crannog and Brendan boat (1976 leather boat went across the Atlantic ala 9th century St. Brendan) - don't miss. Magh Adair is not much to look at now, but all the high kings were crowned there. Also, the Burren, the cliffs of Moher (say Mohr), Ring of Kerry. And down South, I liked Cork; nice people, but fair warning, the old men are jokesters. Try the PRIVATE hostel system in Ireland - so much nicer than the international youth hostels - when you can't afford the B&Bs. In all kinds of small places the Goddess lives - look for the Sheela-na-Gigs (Celtic version of a Yoni figure) in several castles, abbeys, and churches, listed: http://www.irelands-sheelanagigs.org/

We managed to get to Cragannowen both on the last trip and on this one.. and the Brendan was worth seeing both times. I nfact, this time I skpped the iron age bog road in order to get more time with the boat.

I did almost everything else on your list between this trip and last and you're right about the guy behind the bar in Quin. :)

A full recap when I get back, I swear. :)

Hope you guys are having a phenomenal time and that K is enjoying herself.

I had this moment of panic that I had to deal with by commenting again...it went like this: "Will she know that I was teasing about the guacamole and that my feelings were not hurt? Oh, God, I hope so! I totally never had it without sour cream where I grew up! There wasn't enough avocado in it, but that's how it gets made in my part of the world, and I thought it was cool to find out there's another way, and I was trying to build rapport..."

I'm such a schmendrick.

Hugs to you all.

M
