Whole lotta labia.
Speak to me about screencaps from DVDs. Because I've got this DVD of the 4D ultrasound we did and there is a shot you guys have to see.. seriously.. HAVE TO SEE. But... ctrl+prtscrn is doing that thing where it's fine until you eject the DVD and then you just get this black screen. The disc won't play in WMP so the "turn off overlays" option won't work, and the real player ctrl+I option is giving me a message saying it only works with streaming media files.

I swear to God people, she plays right to the camera for both US and UK audiences and without your help it's going to stay trapped on this disc. Woe!

FIXED!

Have you tried the VLC player, Mellies? I know nothing of screencaps, really, but they're easier for me to get with the VLC player than anything else.

my rassafrassin' dvd drive has locked up.

I hate this laptop, I swear. And I can't complain about it because what part of my job requires watching dvds? none.

ruh.

let me see if I can get the thing to actually play so that I can give you the steps. it'll take a minute, though.

ah okay.

Because you should be able to set up your PowerDvd preferences so that you make a cap every time you hit 'c' for capture. You don't even have to pause it or anything while you do it.

many DVD player programs have a screencap feature - the DivX driver you're using won't capture things from the player. If you can't find one out there that'll do it, lemme know and I'll email you the name of the one that I use which does...

I use PowerDVD (I had to pay for the upgraded version to make caps because the Dell version was lame.) There's a little camera button, all you have to do is pause it and click and it makes you a bitmap to play with in Photoshop.
