Whole lotta labia.
Notes from the road:

Me: You should play patty-cake with her. She likes the clapping.
ST: Ok... patty-cake patty-cake baker's man. Bake me a cake as fast as you can. .... ......
Me: Um.. don't look at me.
ST: Mix it up... mix it some more..
(long pause)
Me: Honey. How is it that neither of us knows this?
ST: .... allow for a secondary rise....
Me: *snarf*

Dood. Make it up! Make it your own! Work the patty cake.

I change the words to songs when I either can't remember, or just don't like them. Jamie really likes it when I throw her name in. Nice how Jamie and Baby have the same kind of lilt that. Chloe does too... see how good that is?

I agree with jen ... I used to make up words all the time when doing the singing thing with my daughter when she was young ...

now I make up words doing the singing thing to the wife ... sometimes she is amused ... sometimes she thwaps me in the head

my daughter never thwapped me in the head ... she always laughed and clapped her hands ... now, as a college student, I sometimes get the eyeroll as a response ... usually for something the wife would thwap me for

so my singing is an inter-active venture generally I guess

The only downside to this approach for us is that Steve (a knee-jerk filker, he can't help himself) tends to make up words that involve zombie invasions and ninjas.

Wait.. that's not so much a downside, is it? :)

We did. And we started off by using Chloe instead of Baby because she loves the sound of her name. We also figured out that really what she likes is the clapping so we just intersperse that with songs we like a hell of a lot more than pattycake. This would be why she's going to know "Wild Rover" before she knows pattycake. We rule.

"No, nay, never" *clapclapclapclap* = Happy baby.

from memory... um... roll it, bake it, mark it with a B. throw it in the oven for baby and me?

although, i think "mix it up, mix it up some more, and allow for a secondary rise" are the alternative B side, Club Mixxx lyrics. *lol*

See, I couldn't figure out why you would bake it before you marked it and put it in the oven. So we went with roll it, pat it, etc. And then we figured out that she's not really a pattycake fan she's a clapping fan. So we moved on to "Wild Rover" which has lots of clapping and is more fun to sing, frankly. :D
