Whole lotta labia.
[how ya feelin'? |uncomfortableviolated]

I was going to develop a cripplingly expensive lingere habit this year. I was also going to develop a raging BPAL addiction. Instead it appears as though I'm going to develop a charming and close relationship with my mechanic's children. After all, if I'm going to finance that much of their college education I think I deserve a little face time.

"plus tax"

As in, "This catalytic converter replacement will run you about $899.67... plus tax."

Needless to say that my personal trainer appointment fell by the wayside as I talked to the mechanic about scheduling and labor and possibly breaking out the payment over two paychecks and stuff like that. I got into the office at 11:30 and that means I'm going to miss my gym trip for the afternoon (I think).

So.. y'know.. one anal raping.. plus tax.

But the good news is dinner with Cait tonight, and that makes most things much better. Cait, we still on?

Sure. Although I should warn you that my dad is here, and my mother charged him with making sure we got dinner (that is, he was told to feed me rather than the other way around). My best guess is that he and Kindra are making lasagna. So dinner is kinda experimental.

$900 ? Is the replacement part expensive, or is it a labor issue?

That might be a part you can get used. I'm not sure. Might be worth looking into.

More like a punch to the stomach, plus tax. Try autopartswarehouse at http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/catalytic_converters~pop.html?apwcid=X1093010841W41260599c6350&apwkwd=VW+Catalytic+Converter or just about anywhere else. Don't know the year of your Jetta (?), so I chose 2002. Parts run $250ish depending on your engine, and it is a piece that fits under the car - so I don't understand how he could jack it up that high. Ouch.

That's what I wondered as well. In my truck, the CC is probably a matter of 4 bolts, and a couple of replacement gaskets. Something I could do in my backyard.

The other explanation might be that you have to do some digging to get to the CC in here car. I have a few parts under my truck that I have to take apart frame pieces to get at. Yuck. The labor times for all those jobs are standardized in book form. They just look up the labor charges.

Melly, if you lived in my city, I'd try and replace it for you. :-(

Nice web site by the way. A CC for my vehicle is $154
