Whole lotta labia.
[how ya feelin'? |creativemusical]
[what's in my ear |GBS - Wave Over Wave]

Attn Great Big Sea fans. A few things of note:

  1. The new album? Totally not available in US stores until the 25th. However, available on iTunes for $9.99. I? Shall have both. It's one of the perks of being a grown-up with a job.

  2. The fish with nice legs? Wildly disconcerting.

  3. The tour? Massive. Shows I'll probably see: 3/10 Glenside, PA, 3/11 Cleveland, OH (get ready for company, Kendrah) 4/22 Town Hall, NYC, 4/28 Washington, DC, 2/13 Portland, OR

  4. The fangirl? Happy.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled fandoms already in progress (with many more fans).

Well if Kendrah can't have you, we have a guest room :). And we're only 20 min from downtown. They're at the House of Blues which is like 3 blocks from my office. Also, it's on a Saturday which means I can go (assuming that's coo) and really enjoy it without feeling like I'll be super tired the next day at work. Flights to Cleveland are pretty cheap... check out southwest.com Don't drive here if you can afford to fly, it's sooo much nicer to fly.

That one's something of a pipe dream since they'll be outside of Philly the night before. Really I'll probably end up going home and basking in it for a while and then practically hijacking the theater in NYC :)

If I do come, you'll be the first to know.

Jaci, do you know the Aladdin? That's the venue. I'm hoping it's smaller and slightly more intimate, I'm dying for them to do a good bar show.

i don't -- i've only been to a stadium show and a tiny bar show in portland. preliminary research shows it's frickin' small. 620 capacity. dude. the vibe i'm getting from the website is small, but not bar.

You shouldn't go buy that album. If it turns out you don't like it I'll be heartbroken. Rather? Go get the following songs:

Old Brown's Daughter
Ordinary Day
Captain Wedderburn
Lucky Me
I'm A Rover
Boston and St. John's

That'll give you a good idea of the cross section of it. Let me know your paypal account and I'll send you money for 'em if it turns out you don't like them. If you do, tell me which ones, because that covers a nice range of their stuff and it might be that you like their trad stuff more than their pop stuff (though it's still pop with fiddles and accordians.)

And the best part? They're such raving dorks it's fun to watch them too! Also? The bodhran player? Yum. :)

That's the Ordinary Day singer in my icon. *heart Alan*

I'm not entirely sure. They used to play the Troc up there but they've been getting bigger. They sold out the 9:30 in DC and are moving up to the Lisner. There are some interesting venues in this one. I love them dearly, but I think they may be overestimating the appeal of an all-trad album.

On the other hand, Sean McCann.

Indeeeeed.
