By some miracle of residual exercise, new perspective on what constitutes "bingeing", good eating Sunday and yesterday, and luck, my weight this morning was exactly where it was Friday morning. In fact, I think I might have been down a quarter of a pound because Thursday I'd been fellating salt licks and the water was hanging around. Woo!
I'd meant to get to the gym yesterday but a problem with our remote office kept me on a conference call until I'd run out of time before an afternoon meeting. Feh. So this morning I went before work, because I know what my meeting schedule looks like and there's no room for the gym in there today. So. This morning was a long cardio morning in training for the race. I did 4.25 miles total with the last .25 walking since I accidentally hit the emergency stop button. Bastard button. So. I did it, I ran four miles. Instead of keeping it at a steady pace I went ahead and upped the speed by really small increments of .1 or .2 one minute at a time and then back down again and that allowed me to put in more distance while not sacrificing too much time. Tomorrow is short cardio and weights and then on Thursday I think I'm going to try for another four miles with the varying speeds and see if I can't maybe do 4.1 or 4.2 before I slow to a walk. It took 53 minutes to do the 4 miles which puts me at the 5 miles in just over an hour range but barely. The goal is to be at five miles in under an hour before the end of the month. We'll see about that.
I've decided that next Thursday I'm going to do five miles no matter how long it takes, just to prove I can do it. For those curious, the race I'm training for is the Celtic Solstice Five Miler in Baltimore. I know this means eventually I'm going to have to start adding in incline variations, but I'm saving those for December. As you can see by the site, I'm totally only doing this for the shirts. The design is fantastic and worth the steep registration fee. Which reminds me, I need to register. But I can do that next week and use some of my birthday money for it.
Today's food is sensible so far. I added a tsp. of peanut butter to my oatmeal for a little flavor and a wee amount of protein. There's salad and fruit and veggie shepherd's pie for lunch and then dinner is going to be a thoroughly decadent sandwich with tomato and avocado and good dry mild cheddar on ass-kickingly good bread. I'm dreaming about this sandwich.
Tomorrow's dinner is subs, which means I know *exactly* what to do about points for the rest of the day and that's always nice.
Mini weight goal is to be out of this 10lb range by the end of the week. I'm within ambitious but doable reach of that right now, we'll see how the impending PMS gets me. The bigger weight goal is to be in my "fat" pants comfortably by Thanksgiving (doable) and back in all my pants before Christmas so I can fit into whatever my mother gets me (doable with weights as well as cardio) and then finally back to my goal weight by New Year's (absolutely doable). I'm uncomfortable and I don't like that. I don't like having to wear my pajama pants all night because they fit and nothing else does and I don't like the idea of having to wear something frumpy to Thanksgiving. So. Good healthy non-scale related goals (for the most part) and we'll see how I do. Thanks for sticking with me, guys.
In other news my boss scheduled me for two hours of back-to-back half hour meetings this afternoon. Fucker. Also, my developer in Chicago sent me an email this morning with a status update that included the word "balls"... in an anatomical sense. I love that guy.
Also? "Popular" is still fun years later but I'd forgotten how long it takes for Mary Cherry to become her wonderful fantastic self.
(ETA: And while I'm whining: Dear Bravo, could you fucking release a couple of seasons of Queer Eye for those of us who are cable-impaired? I'm tired of watching the same four episodes again and again.)
