I worked out 5 days the week before last and 5 days last week. Quite proud. I even got up Saturday morning to go running and God, it felt fantastic. I didn't weigh in last week because I'd had sushi for dinner on Friday and though I'm fairly sure I drank enough water to wash out the sodium, I couldn't stand the idea of getting up there and seeing the number up. So instead I just had a sensible eating day Friday, worked out quite well that morning, and went on with it. Friday night was a bit of a splurge since it was ST's party and we were all a bit food-nuts. Saturday was the running and man, it just put me right for the rest of the day. I had some cranky moments but they were those moments you always have when you expect others to read your invisible sign but.. y'know.. you forget to turn off the invisible part.
I ate like a pig Saturday, I know that. I'm ok with that. I also made some poor decisions on Sunday but not as bad as I could have. Sure, I had pancakes for breakfast and cheesecake for lunch, but I had two pancakes, not 5. I had two beignets, not 4. It was a splurge in the new style, not an old-style splurge. So that's nice. Monday I cleaned, ate well, and went to the gym. Tuesday it was back in the saddle. Good eating, gym in the morning, you name it. The scale showed me at exactly the same weight I was on Friday morning. So... not so good, but so much better than I could have done.
Anyway, it's been a few weeks of continued gym visits, I'm down 7lbs, and I seem to have reached the phase where a weekend of moderate splurging once every couple of months doesn't sink me anymore. Which is what I wanted. Now I just have to be patient.
So this morning it was 30min on the elliptical, a full round of upper body weights, and then 7 minutes on the treadmill at a 10min mile. Uh.. I miscalculated. I meant it to be 7min at a 6min mile with a minute of warm-up. Hi. I'm no so bright sometimes. I'm going to start doing little punches of really fast running just to try and work a different type of cardio. I usually do the cockroach approach, I think I need to start working in bits of jaguar. Eventually I'd like to break up bits of my weight-training with short bursts of really intense cardio. Might try that in early March.
The party was wonderful. It's great to look up and realize that you're surrounded by people you really like. And it was especially nice to get to see lilithfalling and congratulate her on the potential/maybe/theoretical job. *fingers crossed*
I wish I had other updates. But I don't. At least not any that don't make me look all neurotic and weird. So let's just go with this.. I am wonderful beyond measure, I am feeling healthier, the extra protein I've been getting is making my nails stronger, and I got to see Hellboy on Monday and absolutely loved it. Which means I can go read linaerys's stories now. Woot!
