Whole lotta labia.
I just got out of a workout class. I never thought I'd get out of a workout class thinking "That would have been easier in six inch heels." But I just did.|
Seriously, people, I just learned to dance on a pole. Not a lot, but I can do a spin and I can flip that chair around and show it who's boss and... seriously, that was so much fun.
is that what lala was talking about this morning? omg that's awesome.
Lala told me a couple of weeks ago that they'd worked this out for her friend's bachelorette party and I kept thinking "that would be so fun" so I said "Tell me if it's any good." She called on Sunday and was like "omg Mellies, so fun! So bruised! So sore! omg SO FUN!" So I went and looked it up and thought "What the heck." There are no mirrors in the main room and the lighting is nice and dim and there are no men allowed. So I could just swing around and have fun.
And a lot of the moves are structurally similar to bellydance moves, they're just exaggerated and raunchy so I didn't even feel too klutzy. It's a fantastic workout, I sweated like crazy and my abs are killing me, but so fun!
I called ST to tell him about it and he offered to get me a card good for 6 classes. True love! Then he asked how much a pole was. I said "I don't really need a pole for practicing at home, honey." To which he replied "It's not always all about your needs, sweetheart. Now how much are they?"
Dude - I SO want to do this!! Is this someplace in Berkeley Springs?
You can order a pole online at a lot of different places, but they usually run about $200+...I'm thinking Steve is pretty handy and could *make* you one for a lot less!
I did an hour of chair/floor stuff and an hour of beginner pole work and it's been a long time since I had that much fun. Also? I've put on a bunch of the weight I lost two years ago (not tons, about 15 lbs, but enough that my wedding dress is snug) and I'd been feeling so down about myself but after I got out of there I was like "oh yeah, *that's* what I have hips for!" Plus? By the end I could do a simple spin around the pole with this high-legged catch and this spin-out with a backbend. Clearly I have missed my calling. ;)
The studio is part of a chain of them in the Baltimore area, I went to one about halfway between Baltimore an DC yesterday but there are pockets of places all over. I'm trying to find one for a friend in Cleveland so I'll keep you posted on what I find.

so, do we have Pennsic Pole Dancing to look forward to?
* bow chicka bow wow *
*is jealous* that sounds SO cool.
*is also sorry she missed seeing melli doing said pole dance* ;)
I'm sure we could arrange for a structurally sound pole in camp.
Wheeeeee!!! That does sound like fun!!!
