Well now, that was an adventure. [Nov. 20th, 2003|09:44 pm]
Whole lotta labia.
[how ya feelin'? |coldcold]
[what's in my ear |Robbie Williams - Have You Met Ms. Jones]

ravenscathedral is going to beat me for this.. and wilfulcait isn't going to be too thrilled either.

I'm about to go get into a hot bath.. because I'm soaked.. and I'm cold. Adam and I had a nice dinner at the Tony Roma's here.. ribs and chicken.. quite nice, actually. And then we decided that since it was pretty much a straight shot down the main drag to the hotel that we'd walk.

Except we forgot that the cabbie had done this arsed-up trip through the parking lot and we left going the wrong way. We walked for an hour. About a half hour straight and then thinking that we saw the stadium near the hotel (remember it from the soccer game?) we basically went all through the side streets around The Wrong Stadium (tm) until we realized we'd gone in a circle. At which point I climbed in a waiting cab and handed him the card for the hotel. Did I mention it was raining the whole time?

It took a 15 minute ride for us to get home. I never felt unsafe during the walk, but now I'm wet, cold, and my feet hurt. *whinge*

Ok. Bath now. And later I think I'm going to use one of my two calls for the day to make an audio post of The Cinnamon Peeler. Go here and look into the audio program that LJ uses and how you can listen to the file. I love this poem, and the only thing I love better than reading it is when other people discover it. Plus, it's all pr0ny, but in that good way.

More later, bath now.

Sweet. The phone connection from Ecuador to home is just terrible so I kept having to re-record it cuz there would be all these garbled bits.

Stupid technology.

I'm not sure if it's the international connection or just LJ's audio server but it keeps garbling bits of the poem. I've given up for now but if I don't get it posted tonight I'll do it from the Miami airport tomorrow. I love this poem so much.

I'm dry now and got a nice bath so I'm in better spirits. Did you ever get the situation straightened out at work or did Jeff continue to find stuff to change?

Warm bed.. warm Mattses. How divine. We've been having Yahoo Games dates where we play chess or scrabble and hang out.. but I miss him everso.

The Miami airport isn't too terrible, but I'm still not looking forward to it. Thankfully figuring out the Costa Rican customs situation this afternoon means I don't have to go into work after I get home just to ship the equipment back out again.

And good on ya for having it out with Jeff. It's one thing if you're just picking at each other in the department, but if you don't put up a united front it just makes you vulnerable to outside assheadedness as well as HIS assheadedness. Take your weekend, enjoy the break.

And man, I wish I had peppermint bath stuff. I ended up dumping the thingy of shampoo in to get bubbles. :)

LJ tags continue to make me look like a fool. :-)

There is no Jeff in the void ... there is only death.

He and I had it out big late this afternoon, when I called him on making both of us look like idiots to someone who already thinks we are idiots. Roles are not very well defined in my department right now, so everything is tricksy. He huffed and puffed, but I blew his house down. And only one more day this week. He may survive.
Baths are the greatest thing ever. My apartment smells like a Bendicks box again after an hour long bath with Body Shop peppermint everything. Mmmm.

Oh god, Miami airport. *shudders, pets you* Think "home" thoughts. Think nice warm bed and nice warm Mattses. :-)

I'm sorry your feet hurt, hon. Why would I be upset with you, though? You say you didn't feel unsafe; that leaves you much better than, say, me and JW wandering through the NYC projects at 11 pm...

Your story about this evening reminds me of our hike in Florence, when we headed the wrong way the first night leaving the hostile hostel and ended up walking all the way downtown. Complete with my sore feet -- hope you didn't blister yours like I did!

Nope.. no blisters.. but after another couple of minutes it would have been a different story.

And actually it reminded me of when you and I got off at the wrong stop and ended up walking all over trying to get home before our poor bladders exploded. That hostel.. good for stories, bad for sleeping. :)

Oh, fabric.com's got 108" flannel for 5.95 a yard. Do we need flannel?

And actually, after thinking about it, I knew you wouldn't be upset.. because this is the kind of thing we do. Not so often in places where we don't speak the language.. but frequently as two women traveling alone.

And this place? It's about 8 million times safer than Kingston. *shudder*

It seemed like such a good idea at the time.. just a straight shot up the road. *sigh* But we're safe now.. and I won't be trying that again any time soon.

That song is on another CD? I usually listen to it off the Bridget Jones sound track.. Man, I'm thinking I must have this now
