Whole lotta labia.
I fear the "nothing to do but sit around and wait" phase. I truly do.|Sew apron on rust choli Button loops on green hirka Cut out mei tei Middle teir on blue skirt Assemble mei tei Clip threads on mei tei Bottom teir on blue skirt Casing and elastic in blue skirt Buttons on green hirka Bottom teir on brown skirt
I had a real moment of clarity about the brown skirt. And it's not perfect, but I like the flouncy hem and I couldn't be more tickled. I think after war I may put another panel in the second tier.
I also had a moment of clarity about the blue skirt: I'm not using that trim. It sucks balls. It's slithery and hard to work with and it won't give me any body in that hem at all. So I'm going to the cheap and easy route until I find something I'm happier with. I'll pick up some quilt binding today and be done with it.
Then? As I was falling asleep it hit me what kind of embroidery to do on the rust colored choli! So happy about that.
So the to-do lists are getting smaller and smaller. Steve's mostly packed, he'll finish doing his clothes today. Then we'll stage everything downstairs tonight and I'll pick up the trailer tomorrow. We should load up tomorrow night after the baby goes to bed and then I'll have a night of finishing embroidery and packing up my sewing kit and crossing stuff off the list. Plus we're going to clean the house, because both of us hate coming home to a house that's a total tip.
So with that in mind:
Trim on blue skirt
Sew embroidery on rust chol
Finish hem on brown skirt
Redo elastic and casing on brown skirt
Tassels on yarn belt
Clean out car
Trip to Joanns for quilt binding and wide bias tape.
In other news, I put all the Pennsic classes I wanted to take into my google calendar only to realize that the one thing my phone won't do is sync with my google calendar. So I added the calendar page to my favorites and it's got a pretty workable solution. At least I won't wake up each day and wonder which classes I'm going to blow off in order to put my feet up and do nothing all day.
Had a nice long talk with Jeffrey the other day, it's our usual round of mission briefings before Pennsic. Now all I'm missing is a call from Alex while she winds a bobbin and my Pennsic phone call tradition will be complete for the year.
How are you guys?
So, let me ask you. On the choli bit. Are you baring the midriff? Cause mine is seriously unattractive. I printed a pattern and was going to attempt a choli tonight maybe. I know, I'm starting really late.
RHy? I am at the "nothing to do but wait around stage" I have been all week. Its absolutely killing me and i hate it. I'd leave for Coopers today if i could. bleah.
can't wait to see your new pretty skirts. Maybe I could get you to talk me through the process?
You know, if you're reeeaaaally bored, you could come over here and help me organize and pack. Or, you could come over and drink wine, sit on a stool, point and give orders, while I organize and pack. Just saying I could use a little drive in that department, and well, you are the expert. (grovel-grovel)
Then there's that skirt I want to do, and could really use someone who knows what there doing to mark the hem, because Shawn, while really fabulous, is not the best seamstress's assistant.
Couple of the things I really want to attend aren't on the official class schedule, they were just mentioned on Tribes. And Tribes is down....
Hey, is your camp doing a block shake & howdy pot luck again this year?
Yup, Tuesday night. Y'all come on down.
It's been pretty crappy attendance for the last few years but it's always worth doing if for no other reason than it convinces us to clean up camp!
